City of Nova Sintra, 26th of May – Two technicians representing SportImpact, a Timorese NGO, are on the Island to carry out a Workshop, within the scope of the VerdeOlympics project, which will take place from 30th of May to 4th of June, in the Center of Youth, in Nova Sintra.

Entitled “How to Organize Sports Events”, the Workshop covers sports officials in the Municipality, community associations and members of sports training schools.

According to the NGO consultant, Miguel Silva, “the project is an initiative of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, in partnership with SportImpact, whose mission is human development through sport”.

During these two days, the consultant Miguel Silva and the facilitator, Ivete Rosa, make contact with the different local institutions, specifically the Municipality of Brava, the Education Delegation, the Secondary School and basic schools, the Regional Commission of Partners to, jointly, guarantee the partnerships for the workshop.

According to the technicians, the VerdeOlympics is made up of two phases. The first phase covers the theoretical part, addressing topics such as: Olympic Games and Olympic movement, leadership and human resources, problem solving: case of “adapted sport”, marketing and promotion.

The practical part “VerdeOlympics: internship and graduation” takes place on Saturday, June 4th, at the Aquiles d´Oliveira Stadium “with a multi-sport event that aims to promote different sports among children,” says Miguel Silva.
